Bokuno assessment of several platforms over MS Windows
At this section I tell you reliable platforms. Those come through my experience of IT tasks.

  • MS Windows: You can rely on MS Windows themselves to run almost applications over any MS Windows without major problems.
    For examples, Windows95, Windows98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
  • Excel: You can rely on MS Excel including almost formulas. And also you can rely on running almost any kind of VBA with it.
  • Internet Explorer [browser]: You can trust on Internet Explorer enough.
    For examples, IE4, IE5, IE6 and IE7.
  • IIS [Web server]: You can trust on IIS.
  • Apache2 [Web server]: You can trust on Apache2.
  • MinGW [C & C++]: You can trust on MinGW. There are plenty of simples and books about C & C++.

    At this section I tell you bad platforms. Those come through my experience of IT tasks. You should be very careful to make particular commercial product with those below.

  • Access: Access programming is popular for data base. However, Access does not run always in proper. Particular, Access with VBA does not guarantee.
  • Visual Basic .net: Visual Basic .net requires .net Framework to run. You meet often mysterious problems which bar from running normally. But Visual Basic .net is easy for programming.
  • Java: When you run an application which is made by Java, you sometimes meet to not to run it. Anybody who makes programming with Java should specify a version number of Java for users.
